Advanced Hair Studio Consultation
It's important that you remember that it's not a hospital you're walking into. It may be called a clinic
but the NHS won't be paying your bill.
You feel a glimmer of excitement because you've finally made the first step to potentially curing your hair
loss. You'll open the door and be greeted by the receptionist who'll possibly call you by your first name
(you'll be scheduled to arrive at that time) to make it more friendly and asked to have a seat. At that point
the consultant may come out to say hello and make quick introductions. Always a smiling face and a solid
handshake. A smile makes you feel welcome.
Advanced Hair Studio strive to employ consultants who have suffered from hair loss or male pattern baldness
themselves so chances are the consultant has had some sort of treatment.
You will be asked to fill in a questionnaire. Pretty routine it would seem but remember, when it comes to
a company like this, everything has a purpose. You'll be asked pretty routine questions. Name, age,
address.
It will also ask you to tick the box pertaining to your salary bracket or how much you earn per year. Of
course this is optional. You'll also be asked how long it took you to decide to make a consultation
appointment. You'll be asked what newspapers or magazines you read (only so they know where to advertise) and
also where you heard about them.
What you don't know...is that they look very closely at what salary bracket you tick, if
any. It will tell them how much you could potentally afford for a treatment. If you leave out the
salary bracket section they move onto how long it took you to decide to make a consultation. If you tick
something like "less than one month" rather than "more than six months" then they know you're desperate and a
desperate person is more interested in the treatment rather than the price and might be willing to part with more
money than others.
You'll then be invited into the consultation room where they'll have pictures of celebrities on the wall with
fantastic looking hair. They'll seat themselves behind a large desk and invite you to sit in front of
them. On the desk willl be a folder of past clients with before and after pictures. All there to
immediately make you think that this is the company you want to go with since the results look so good. And I
have to admit, the results are amazing.
They'll go over the questionaire with you just to confirm and then they'll take a look at you hair. They
won't ask because that gives you right to refuse. Instead they'll more than likely ask you to turn round and
face the mirror and they'll stand up behind you and poke around in your hair for a while. That's when they'll
decide what treatment to give you. But they won't tell you yet. What they'll do is take a photo of your
scalp.
Now pay attention. They will spray your hair with a conditioning solution and say it's to separate the
hairs to get a better idea of how thick your hair is. They'll take the photo and then pop out of the office
to print the photo and in the meantime, invite you to flick through the folder of past and present clients.
It makes you focus on the results. Everyone knows that when your hair is wet it makes it look
worse. Makes the thinning a lot more apparent. So when they bring the photo back and show it to you and
most clients ( I know from first hand experience) are stunned as to how bad their hair loss actually is.
Let's face it. Who actually sees the top of their scalp all the time?
It suddenly hits home just how bad your hair loss is. Maybe even worse than you thought? At this
time the
consultant will give it a little time to sink in before drawing your attention back
to the folder of past and present clients. See the difference between your hair and theirs? Of course
you do and what goes through your mind? I want hair like that. You're playing into their hands exactly
how it was designed. AHS have this down to a fine art. The majority of people are sold by this point,
the rest is just a formality.
At this point they will recommend either laser therapy of strand-by-strand (which I'll discuss in detail later)
but before you make a decision they'll offer you a coffee and leave you in the room to watch a video. Which
video you get will depend on whether they offered laser or strand-by-strand.
When they come back in it's make-your-mind-up-time. They'll ask what you thought of the video and answer
any questions you may have. Most clients get into the whole "how much does this cost" part. That is a
whole new can of worms.
I will explain their sales tactics on the next page.
