Scalp reduction or hair restoration is probably the more demanding of any other procedure and for this the client must have good thick, healthy hair back and sides, otherwise known as donor hair. 

For this procedure part of the bald scalp is actually cut away and the ramaining stretched up so that some of the donor hair moves up to cover what was once the bald area.  The skin is stitched, usuallly with staples, and left for a number of weeks to give the skin time to slacken. 

For best results this procedure is carried out about three times, therefore can be a heavey burden on the wallet.  Each procedure can cost upwards of £3500.  For best results this procedure is best when carried out along with hair transplants. 

A friend of mine had this procedure and I have to say the results were among the best I have ever seen.
