Preventing Female Hair Loss
I have outlined some of the potential ways you can treat female hair loss.
I am constantly on the lookout to add more treatments to keep you updated. If there's anything
you're not sure of, just get in contact and I'll be happy to answer your questions.
Lotions and creams -
Creams and lotions include over-the-counter Rogaine or Regaine
(minoxidil), which can help halt the hair loss and in some cases regrow lost hair, especially those whoe hair loss
is hereditary. These products are applied directly to the scalp. It is also worth looking into different
shampoos, some of which are designed to make the hair healthier and thicker.
Anti-inflammatory medications -
Drugs such as steroid creams or injections can be prescribed to calm follicles. Patients undergoing Chemotherapy
are often given steroids.
Hair weaves or wigs -
Hair Systems can restore the appearance of a
full head of hair, either by adding to existing hair or by covering the head completely. A hair system can be
expensive but the result is something to be seen.
I remember my first day working for a hair loss clinic. A girl came in. Extremely beautiful girl and I thought
she was the receptionist. Long blonde hair and blue eyes. Only later did I learn she was a client and was in to
have her hair system replaced with another.
Surgery -
There are a number of procedures for hair loss. The only unfortunate part is non of them are geared specifically
for women. Hair loss on a woman isn't the same as hair loss on a man where it is generally confined to one
area.
A surgery can cost thousands of dollars/pounds and the result may not be good enough to cover the area of
thinning hair.
As soon as you notice your hair thinning it's always best to consult with a trichologist.
